Why is it that when your feet first touch the floor in the morning ( slooowwwwly touch the floor ) that the first thing you do, even before you visit the little girls room is make that first pot of coffee? Folgers, might I add. It's like a drug that you must have and Heaven help anyone who stands in your way or happens by you just in case you find that you are out of coffee and have to make do with whatever piece of a bag of old "flavored" coffee you may find hidden behind the things in the pantry that no one eats. You know those things? Off brand Little Debbies that are hard as a rock and contain raisins. Raisins. Little Boxes of raisins that you keep buying for children's lunches and snacks that are petrified and have been in there since 2000... Many bags of dried beans that you swear you are going to cook and never do. The ingredients for home made yeast bread that you also swear you are going to find time for and never do. Ten cans of beanie weenies left from a Hurricane stash along with several cans of spaghetti O's and ravioli that you keep buying even though your kids have long left or outgrown them and moved on to much more mature things to eat like Taco Bell. Boxes of Lucky Charms and Captain Crunch that are stale because no one rolled down the little plastic bag, but you just keep accumulating new unopened boxes of cereal and just leave those there thinking that sure someone will finish a box before opening another one. ( The articles in a pantry are enough for another blog all it's own. It's like the articles in a woman's purse...really tells alot about who you are and what your life is about. ) There are many things on the grocery list when going to Walmart that you have to remember to buy - but the things that truly CANNOT be forgotten are in this order 1. Folgers Coffee. 2. Toilet paper. 3. Little Debbies. 4. Sleepy Time Tea. 5. Detergent. 6. Cat Food. And everything else is maybe I'll remember it, maybe not.
And so, I begin this Monday morning with my cup of coffee and my Advil ( to get the little ass aches taken care of quickly ) and I will soon go to the bathroom and begin my ritual of makeup application to hide the lack of sleep and try to figure out what I am going to do with this wild mane of hair I seem to have accumulated in the past year and am seriously considering donating to locks of love, and drink my second cup and get myself mentally prepared for another week of cake baking and candy making and dealing with brides and wedding cake and catering demands that make me cringe....you know? I think I will just sit down and have a third cup and go in late. It's Monday. And I'm supposed to be closed.
Happy Monday, Girls! Raise your coffee cup and offer a toast to the week that this one will be better than last. :)
Candy Girl :)
